Terapeak review

Welcome to my review of Terapeak ,Terapeak is a web based software that allows ecommerce business owners who sell primarily on eBay, Shopify or Amazon to carry out comprehensive market research that can accelerate their growth and increase revenue.

The software provides tools to research product popularity, competitor analysis, listing optimisation, historical sales data, spotting new sales trends and other metrics.

Access to this type of data will provide a competitive edge over other sellers using the same ecommerce platforms.

I first got introduced to Terapeak when I started researching ways to sell on eBay, a lot of eBay power sellers recommend using Terapeak for market research and one of them was Andrew Minalto of andrewminalto.com.

For anyone who isn’t familiar with Andrew Minalto, he is a eBay power seller and a very successful businessman. He has a couple courses that show how to sell on eBay, one is quite inexpensive and the other is a coaching programme.

Anyway, it was on his recommendation that I bought Terapeak, this was when I was still thinking of selling on either Amazon or eBay.

Although I never got around to selling on eBay, I did play around with Terapeak and it is a powerful piece of software that will definitely make a difference to those who sell on eBay.

However, as I have found out, it is also a good research tool for affiliate marketers and especially those who use the eBay partnership network (EPN).

Why is it good for affiliate marketing?

Well,if after your research you cannot find a supplier for your products, you can carry out an extra bit of keyword research and see if there is sufficient volume to target it for affiliate marketing.

If you are in the ecommerce scene then you will know the necessity of having software applications like Terapeak. In this day and age with technology moving so fast, it’s important to keep up to date with everything in your industry.

Terapeak has been around for a while now and with its continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, it has remained as the top research software tool for serious eBay sellers.

Terapeak Features

There are a variety of features within this software but the one that is used the most is probably the product research feature.

Before selling anything on any platform, you must research the product and see if there is a market for it. This goes for selling items on eBay and this is where Terapeak comes in and saves you a lot of time and makes the research process more efficient.

As you can see from the image below, the research tab as 4 options to choose from. Product research 2.0 is in beta and so I will use the original to show examples of what kind of product data can be extracted for to help eBay sellers with their business.

terapeak

Some people prefer the category research, although it provides a lot of data, personally I prefer the product research feature.

The amount of data that can be pulled from this feature is amazing and for any eBay seller this will improve their sales performance if utilised properly.

As you can see from the image below, there are many filters that can be applied that will provide a more accurate representation of the data for the product you are researching.

You can apply the following filters to reveal even more detailed stats

  • Item condition
  • Price range
  • Time of day sales are made
  • Duration of the listings
  • Type of listings
  • Different eBay sites
  • Up to 90 days’ sales data

To show you the power of this software,I searched for the term ‘Golf trolleys’ on eBay UK and applied the following  options:

  • 30 days sales data
  • Brand new items
  • Fixed price
  • UK eBay site

terapeak research

As you can see, the data I get access to for this simple search is quite detailed and you have the options to read the stats in more detailed formats.

The main stats are highlighted in a blue box as shown below.

terapeak stats

The stats to look out for is sell through rate, total sales and sellers per day. These stats will give an overall idea of how profitable a product is and if there is much competition.

These stats can be accessed from the general stats box.

From the stats I can conclude that golf trolleys sell pretty well on eBay UK, it has a sell through ate of over 94%, only 2 sellers per day and its total monthly sales is well over $2000. That is just for one product.

Other information you can access from this feature is information about who the top sellers in this category are, keywords used in the listing description and which country has the best sell through rate in this category.

The data below shows that eBay UK and eBay US have sell through rates over 90% and so these markets are worth considering entering to sell these products in.

sell through rate stat

Product research will provide you with the most comprehensive data to whatever product or products you are researching.

However the other research options are worth taking time to look at and may provide you with more data that will help you making better informed decisions with regards to selling on eBay.

The other options are:

Hot research – This lists the categories that are currently trending and selling really well. The trends are ranked by their sell through rate and are categorised as hot, very hot and super-hot.

With hot research, you have four options to evaluate different sales trends. The options are as follows:

  • Categories – Provides data for best trending category, its sales rank, sell through rate and how ‘hot’ the category is.
  • Media – Data for the most trending items for DVD,Music,Games and Books.
  • Bestselling products- This is self-explanatory
  • Bestselling title – This option provides data for keywords that are getting the most conversions. This is a really good option to use when optimising your listings for SEO.

This option is best used if you want to analyse trending sales data and see if there are any good opportunities that you can enter and make some sales.

Category research –  Provides in-depth data from each category regarding sales volume, sell through rate, listings, sold listings and other metrics. The different coloured dots you can see on the image below are called heat maps.

category research

The heat maps represent the highest performing sub-categories to the lowest in any of the six metrics you wish to measure.

You can then delve further in to each sub-category, for example if we clicked on the sporting goods category, we find over 30 sub-categories and each of them have their own heat maps.

This truly provides you with some advanced data with which you can analyse if a certain product is worth selling. However, you can only pull up sales information no older than 30 days, with the product research option you can analyse 3 months’ worth of sales data.

This is the reason I prefer the product research option, you have a much bigger timeline to analyse and see the sales trends. This will give you better insight into if a product is worth selling on eBay.

Bulk research – This is another good option for research and analysis, you can input multiple keywords (maximum of 10 search terms) and get back data regarding those products. The data you get back  are average price, number of listings, average shipping price and sell through rate. You can then delve even further by applying some filters and narrowing down your results.

By applying the filters, you can adjust price range, condition of the items and what eBay site to search.

You also have the choice to download the data in CSV or XLS format  for further analysis.

Other features

SEO Pro

This feature provides you with the highest converting terms that drive more sales. Once you enter the product name like golf balls, it will provide a list of keywords that are being used by sellers that are seeing the highest sales.

The blue highlighted keywords are eBay keywords and the green ones are google keywords. They are highlighted because these words rank highly on each respective platform.

Having access to these terms gives sellers more advantage to rank high up in search engines and driving more sales. You can even evaluate the terms that are used by the top sellers in the category you are researching.

This kind of data will save you huge amounts of time and help you scale your business much quicker.

Source your products.

Another great feature of Terapeak is because they have now integrated with Alibaba.com, you can search and source products directly from Alibaba using the Terapeak platform.

Alibaba is the biggest online retailer in the world and through it you can access hundreds of Chinese wholesalers.

How to source products from Alibaba is beyond the scope of this article however, it is the main go to site for people who run an ecommerce business and want to source wholesale products that are cheap and can be sold at a substantial profit margin.

For more information on sourcing products from Alibaba read this excellent article.

Terapeak Pricing

Terapeak has three plans, they are as follows:

  • Research – The main plan, this where you will have access to everything described in this review. The payment is billed annually at £13.72 per month. In my opinion, this is the best option.
  • My Sales Pro – I didn’t go into this plan because it is for those who are selling on eBay, Amazon or Shopify that want to link their accounts and get historical sales data. Also billed annually at £10.97 per month.
  • SEO Pro – This is included in the research plan, but if you just want SEO data for listing and how to rank high in eBay search and other search engines, SEO pro will provide you with that data. £3.82 per month billed annually.
  • 3 Year Data- add on – This plan gives you 3 years of sales data of any product,to purchase this you have to have purchased either the Research or My Sales Pro. This is billed annually at £27.47 per month

Terapeak offers a 7- day free trial for any of the plans, there are no limitations and you get to access all the features within that trial period.

I would have preferred a 2-week trial period as I think this gives enough time to fully test all the features and see if you are getting any sales improvement.

Is Terapeak for you?

If you want to be a serious eBay seller and run a scalable ecommerce business on its platform then I think a research tool is a necessity. Terpeak is the best eBay research tool on the market and you should improve your sales performance by utilising its features.

However, even if you don’t plan on selling eBay but want to become an eBay affiliate, I still think this tool can help you find some profitable niches to start promoting. It was through this tool that I found out just how profitable the golf niche was and how easy it is to rank for many keywords related to the golfing niche.

Conclusion

This is definitely a tool to purchase if you want to sell on eBay, its product research features alone is enough to greatly improve your sales performance. The amount of data that can be pulled is very detailed and will help in choosing the right product to start selling on eBay.

The SEO research feature alone will help you increase your sales by optimising your listings and seeing higher conversion rates.

You can access sales trends, discover new opportunities and carry competitor analysis, with this data you can vastly improve your eBay business and look to scale even further.

  2. Hi
I am not one for reading pages and pages of tech-like script but I forced my way through some of your materials,
firstly your about me page could do with a picture of you, so that trust can be built with your visitors,
I know you as admin and a picture of the sunset,

secondly more visuals in your articles especially the one on mobile apps, way too much wording and far too little breaks, as in visuals, not all your visitors will be computer geeks, so you have to cater for a wide range of audiences.

Your information contained in your sight seems to be well researched and useful to those interested.

I wish you all the best in going forward and these comments are meant constructively.

    Regards
    Gary

  3. I used to sell on Ebay and could have done with a tool like this back then. Your review of it is very detailed and I definitely will consider it if I ever decide to go back to selling on Ebay. One thing though, the pricing – separately they are £16.64, £13.31 and £4.64 which is a total of £34.59, so why are all three plans together charged at £48.83?

  4. An interesting site. I would never have considered something like this program years and years ago when I sold on e-bay on a regular basis. If I had my e-bay business might have been more successful. You’ve laid out what the program does very well. I can see where this software would be extremely useful for anyone wanting to sell one-bay or any similar venue. If I ever get back into that type of selling I’ll be sure to check them out.

  5. Wow simply amazing stuff!

I am recently enrolled in a program via udemy that covers the fundamental skills required to become a power seller.

We use the program “merchant shares” and our instructor recommends we use the free version. IN her own words the program is accurate however no one knows where they get their data from.

Terapeak covers many of the areas I think is lacking with merchant words such as SEO pro

I will recommend to our instructor we give this a go.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, I haven’t heard of merchant shares, I’ll have to check it out. Terapeak is actually endorsed by eBay, so I do believe it is the best research tool for eBay sellers.

  6. I had some experience to bought from eBay and sold on eBay. Mainly is laptops and projectors related used and high-value items. It was a good business and easy to make money back to 5-6 years ago. I never expect I can have a tool like Terapeak to analyze market info and find a strategy to do business on eBay.

I have sold eBooks & paperback books on Kindle and Amazon for a while. Now I plan to sell products on Amazon and already joined FBA program. Do you think Terapeak will be helpful for Amazon business? Is it similar to what you introduce on eBay research?

    • Hi George
