Looking for a review of Sell The Trend? Well, you are in luck, I recently found out about this product research tool for dropshipping and as someone who is looking to start a dropshipping business, I decided to sign up for its free 7-day trial and see how it works.
Dropshipping is one of the most popular methods to start an online business mainly because it doesn’t require a lot of money to get a dropshipping store up and running.
However, one of the biggest obstacles people face when starting any kind of eCommerce business is finding a product to sell.
Fortunately, there are a lot of good research tools that will help you to identify potentially winning products you can start dropshipping straight away.
I have reviewed many of them on this blog and a couple of my favourites are eComhunt and Niche Scraper.
Sell The Trend is one of the latest product research tools to hit the market and from first impressions, it seems like a very good tool, although, I am not a huge fan of the name.
Sell The Trend Review
So, what exactly is Sell The Trend and how does it work? The core feature of Sell The Trend is to allow people to find profitable products to dropship. It does this through analysing sales data from AliExpress, high traffic Shopify stores and also analysing products are trending on Amazon.
However, it is more than just a product hunting tool, you can also import products directly into your Shopify store, has an audience builder for your Facebook ads, a decent Facebook video ads creator and you get access to a simple dropshipping course.
Once inside the member’s area, you are met with the following dashboard.
I highly advise (if you do decide to invest in this tool) that you watch all the training videos, most of the tools within Sell The Trend are easy to use and understand but there might somethings that may not be clear, also the video tutorials have some helpful tips that may prove useful later on.
This is the main product research tool and it is impressive, at first glance, you can see a lot of data about these trending AliExpress products.
So, for example, the product image above provides you with the following data points
- How many Shopify & AliExpress stores are selling this product
- Product cost, its selling price and profit margin
- The total number of orders for the current month.
- When it was first added to a Shopify store
- A link that will take you to a timeline of all the Shopify stores that have added this product.
- The last time it was added to a Shopify store
You can also check if there are similar products on Amazon and how much they are selling for. This is a really good feature as it will let you see what the competition is like on Amazon and how they are pricing their products.
It’s best if there are not many similar products being sold on Amazon and the price are not so low that you would hardly make any profit if you were to sell at a similar price. This is because most customers will inevitably go and check on Amazon to see if they can find a similar product at a cheaper price.
There are a lot of filters you can play around with to narrow down the list of products and identify the one you would like to sell.
There are just way too many options to list them all here but some of the filters you can apply include the following;
- Product has a video
- Product is shipped from within the USA.
- Countries with the most sales
The really interesting ones are the last three I listed, if you are able to ship product from within the USA, it will lead to faster shipping times. Also if the product description on AliExpress has a video, you can use it as inspiration to produce your own video for Facebook ad campaigns.
Finally, if you know which country you want to dropship in, you can select that country and see what products are selling well.
For even more product data, you can click on the image and a popup box will appear like the one displayed below.
Some of the data presented include things like the number of orders that have been made within the last few months. You can actually see the daily number of orders and not just an overall estimate, the higher the number of orders means more dropshippers are selling the product.
You also get a list of the top Shopify stores that are selling this product and a list of the top countries that are buying it.
There is a link to these Shopify stores, this will allow you to go and spy on these stores and see how they have set up their site and what other products they are selling. Another useful feature is there are some suggestions for what and who to target if you are thinking of running any Facebook ads.
If the product has a video, this is where you can download it, however, I would advise against this as it may land you in some legal trouble if you do not get permission from the supplier to use it. Even if you do get consent, it’s still best to create a unique video of your own so that your ad stands out if you decide to use it for any ad campaigns.
Video Ad Creator
Speaking of video ads, Sell The Trend has a simple video ad creator that will allow you to create Facebook video ads from AliExpress product images.
It’s very easy to use, just enter the product URL, this will import the images from AliExpress, add some banner text to go on the top and bottom and then add some music, click on create your video and it will be generated in a couple of minutes.
You can adjust a couple of things like the length of time between each image, the background colour style and even import your own images.
It is a decent video ad creator but its not something I would personally use because of its limitations. If you are on a tight budget, it’s a good feature to have as it will save you money from having to invest in a proper video creation tool.
However, if you want to create exceptional video ads and not have to spend a lot of money, I highly suggest you check out my review of invideo, it’s an exceptional video creation tool and comes at a reasonable price.
This is a pretty cool feature, its very similar to what you get with the Nexus, you get a list of the most trending products from AliExpress, Amazon and some Shopify stores.
For example, as you can see from the image below, you get a lot of useful data for products that are trending on AliExpress. You can narrow down the search results by applying many of the filtering options available below (they are the same ones as available on Nexus)
So, the image above shows that most of these products have seen some tremendous growth since they were added to the Sell The Trend database. You can easily import them into your store, do further research if the green product box is displayed or save it for later.
There are some decent video training on how to best utilise each tool and you get some nice tips and tricks on how to identify the best products to sell.
You also get access to a dropshipping course called the Success Academy, it’s not an in-depth but does outline the main aspects of how to start and run a dropshipping business and also provides some basic training on Facebook ads.
They also run a blog that is regularly updated and has some really useful content, something you should definitely check out is their posts called ‘Winning Product Fridays’. This is where they recommend a product every Friday that ticks all their boxes for a potentially winning product.
Sell The Trend Pricing
Like many of the other product sourcing tools I have reviewed, Sell The Trend only has one pricing plan that you can either subscribe to on a monthly basis on an annual one. If you choose the annual plan, you get two months free and both come with a 7-day free trial and in my opinion, is totally worth the investment.
This is definitely one of the best product hunting tools I have used, it comes with a lot of features (many of which you may never use), and it will definitely help you find profitable products to sell. If you are thinking of dropshipping products from AliExpress, then a tool like Sell The Trend will be very useful for your dropshipping business.
