Keysearch Review – Affordable SEO Tool

Welcome to my review of Keysearch, this is a relatively new keyword research tool that recently came to my attention. I love using SEO tools and have reviewed quite a few on this website, if you rely on search engine traffic, having access to a premium keyword research tool is necessary.

One of the things I enjoy most about blogging is SEO and the challenge that comes with trying to rank for your target keyword.

Most new bloggers rely on free traffic from search engines, however, getting free traffic from search engines isn’t that easy. It takes time and you must have access to keyword data that will allow you to make an informed decision about which keywords to target and which ones to avoid.

One issue that comes with most premium keyword and SEO tools is that a lot of them are very expensive and have unnecessary features, especially for new solopreneurs.

I get frustrated with people who suggest tools like Ahrefs, SEMRUSH and Moz to new bloggers and solopreneurs who only want data for keyword research. These tools are amazing and provide tons of data, but most of the features these tools come with will never be used by people just starting their blog or website.

This is why I am always happy when I find a tool that has all the necessary features and comes at a reasonable price.

This is exactly what I found with Keysearch, this SEO tool (it’s more than just a keyword tool) has some incredible features that everyone will find useful and it comes at a super affordable price. In fact, I think this may be the cheapest SEO tool that I have come across.

If you are new to SEO and just looking for a good keyword research tool, most of the features will not be needed for the moment but its good to have access to them for the future. Plus if you are like me and find data analysis fun, you will end up using them anyway just out curiosity.

Keyword Research Tool

The keyword research tool is the one tool you will use the most and it comes with a ton of data that will help you choose the correct keywords to target.

As it is a web-based app, there is nothing to download which is always a good thing.

One of the best aspects I really enjoy about Keysearch is that they have made the data easy to understand.

A lot of the data is also colour coded, for instance, the following colours represent different levels of keyword difficulty.

Blue – Super Easy

Green – Easy

Orange – Moderate

Red – Difficult

Every time you research a keyword term, you will get the following sets of data;

Monthly Search Volume

Keyword Difficulty Score

Cost Per Click

Pay Per Click

Related Keywords

All this data is visualized in 5 different blocks which makes it easier to understand.

The first block gives you the necessary data for your keyword term, like monthly search volume and keyword competition. There is also data for CPC and PPC but this is only necessary if you are running any Google ad campaigns.

The second block provides data for how popular this keyword has been over the past 12 months, this will give you insights into if the keyword is a seasonal keyword or if it has consistent interest throughout the year.

The third block gives you a set of SEO metrics that will tell you the overall ranking power of the website and web page.

Some of these data like domain authority (DA) and page authority (PA) have been developed by an SEO company called MOZ. You do not necessarily have to understand how they come up with the data but just know that a high PA and DA score means a website has a better chance at ranking than those with a lower score.

You can also see how many authority links that the website is getting and also the total number of links. Links are a major ranking factor and the more authority links you can get, the better you have at ranking higher on the search engines.

There are a couple of other interesting tabs in this box.

One is titled ‘Rankings and Traffic’.

This is one of the best features of Keysearch and will help you identify what keywords your competitors are ranking for on a URL and domain level.

It has four data points, these are;

URL Keywords – The number of keywords the URL is ranking for

URL Traffic – The estimated monthly traffic the URL generates

Domain Keywords – The total number of keywords the domain ranks for

Domain Traffic – An estimate of the monthly traffic the website generates.

If you click on any of the stats a popup box will appear and show you the keywords the URL or domain is ranking for.

So, for example, the image below shows how many keywords the top URL for the search term ‘ best drones for photography’ is ranking for.

This one URL is ranking for over 1700 keywords!!

If you click on the stats, a pop-up box will appear and shows you what keywords is ranking where on the search engines and gives an estimate of the monthly traffic one keyword brings in.

Not only can you use these keywords for your own content, but you start to realise the benefit of ranking for many long tail keywords that may have small search volume but added together, they can potentially bring you thousands of monthly visitors.

You can also find out what keywords the entire website is ranking for by clicking on the stats for domain keywords.

However, I must add that as this is a relatively new SEO research tool, some of the data is not up to date.

For example, for the website uavcoach.com, it says that the domain is ranking for 18000+ keywords but when I check the same stats on another SEO tool, Serpstat ( you can read my review of Serpstat here), it tells me that the same website is ranking for over 32000 keywords.

The same goes for traffic estimation, I found that the data is not the same as other tools that have similar features.

However, this shouldn’t really matter, because what this tool is great at is finding easy to rank keywords and keywords of your competitors and that is what you want.

The fourth block gives you the search engine suggestions for similar keyword terms. These are the same suggestions you would find at the bottom of the page when you search something on Google.

The fifth block gives you more related keyword suggestions along with their search volume, CPC and keyword difficulty score.

You also can download any of this data in CVS or PDF format.

Keysearch database – Currently have over a billion in their database and adding more continuously growing.

There is also a Chrome extension that will allow you to see the keyword data for any searches you make on Google. The extension still needs some work because sometimes it doesn’t work or provides you with conflicting data.

The keyword research tool is the best feature that Keysearch offers and it is the tool you will be using the most.

For keyword research, it offers everything you will need to find easy to rank profitable keywords for your website.

Rank Tracking

Tracking your keyword ranking is always useful especially if you are wanting to find out if your SEO practices are working in your favour.

With Keysearch you can track up to 200 keywords and get regular ranking updates via email and download reports of ranking progress.

On a side note, not all ranking software are 100% accurate and this goes for Keysearch, I have tracked a few keywords and some of the results I got back were not accurate ( I check manually in incognito mode and also Google search console).

YouTube Research

If you do any kind of YouTube marketing (and you most definitely should), the YouTube research tool will help you find keywords for your YouTube videos. It provides data for keyword search volume on YouTube and a video ranking difficulty score.

You also get a table that lists the top YouTube videos and several other pieces of data like how old the video is, how many views and comments it has and whether it has the keywords in its title and description.

Honestly speaking, I wasn’t really impressed with this feature, maybe because I have access to a proper YouTube research tool that has is certified by YouTube and the data is more detailed and accurate.

If you are serious about marketing on YouTube, you would be better off with a tool like Tube Buddy or Vidiq.

This is the only tool that didn’t impress me.

Content Assistant

This is a new feature that they recently released and is still in Beta testing mode. It is an on-page optimisation tool that will help you write articles that will have a better chance at ranking on the first page of Google by providing the following data;

Your main keyword data including search volume and competition.

The average length of the articles on the first page of Google for that search term.

Keywords you must have in your article plus suggested keywords.

Questions that are being asked using your keyword term.

You can also see a snapshot of Google first page results along with the headline title of the article and how many words the article contains. This gives you an idea of what kind of title you should use for your own content and how the long the article should be.

There is a text box in which you can write your article and as you write you can see the following information;

Your total word count against the average word count of articles on the first page of Google.

How many of the main keywords and suggested keywords you have used.

I like this feature and believe it will help you optimise your article for your main keywords and give you a better chance at ranking higher on the search engines.

Backlink Checker

We all know that links play a major role in where Google ranks your web page, therefore it’s good to know the volume and type of links that your competitors have.

With this backlink checker, you can analyse the backlink profile of any website and see how many links they have and then try and acquire similar links for your own site.

Of course, the Keysearch backlink database is nowhere near as large as those of Serpstat, Ahrefs or SEMRUSH but this is a new service and they continue to grow their database.

Competitor Gap

I like this feature, you enter a URL of a competitor and the URL of your own post or website and see what keywords they are ranking for, but you are not. You can then go about optimising that page for the keyword terms you would like to rank for and get more traffic from.

The image below shows two websites operating in the drone niche, the first website is ranking for over 13,000 keywords that the other website is not. This is another great way to find keywords for your content.

Other Features

There are a couple of other features that may be useful to some.

The Page Analyser- you can analyse the on-page SEO data for any website. You get a score out of 100 and some suggestions on how you can improve your on-page SEO.

Explorer – Enter in any webpage or domain and get the following SEO data;

Domain strength

Keyword difficulty score to target

Referring domains

Total Backlinks

Ranking keywords

Top competitors

Keysearch Pricing and Discount Code

This is one of the most affordable SEO tools that I have reviewed, there is a free plan that will give you a limited number of searches and limited access to the other features.

There are two pricing options;

$17 pm and $34 pm, the only difference between the two plans is that you are allowed more searches and can track more keyword rankings with the more expensive option.

You can use the coupon code ‘KSDISC’ that give you 20% off whichever plan you choose.

Final Thoughts

This is a surprisingly good SEO research tool that comes with some exceptional features at a reasonable price.

The best feature is the keyword research tool, it is probably the tool you will use the most if you are a new blogger and website owner.

There is a lot of keyword data you can extract from this tool that will help you find highly targeted easy to rank keywords. I also like that you can find what keywords your competitors are ranking for and the volume of traffic those keywords are bringing in to the website.

Not all the data is accurate, I wouldn’t trust the YouTube research tool and the keyword rank tracking tool doesn’t always provide the correct ranks for keywords you are tracking.

It is not as feature heavy like some of the other SEO tools, but it doesn’t need to be, it is perfect for keyword research and that is its core function.

I would highly recommend this tool to anyone but it is especially ideal for beginners and people who may be on a tight budget.
